Drawing
What do you get when you try to draw someone?
When you don't have a camera,
Just a pencil,
Some 'borrowed' paper,
And the will to see them,
Grinning up from the page,
Because this might be the
Last time
You ever see them?
You get disappointment,
A broken pencil and will,
And a lopsided face
Without a mouth,
Staring at you with those far-apart eyes.
You don't get a masterpiece.
You get a poor impression of
Those wild eyes,
The grinning smile,
The daring person,
Who,
In so little time,
Made a lasting impression on your life.
