Spirited Creatures
The unique, gentle, beauties grasp my attention as I walk through the door.
The sweet smell of sugar fills my nose, as
hot, humid air engulfs me.
The atmosphere’s full of flapping wings and happy people.
Bright colors surround me.
The uniqueness amazes me. As I look around,
I spot a butterfly with sunset orange wings, and
white specs on top, as black outlines the sides.
Another one— wings covered in yellow, bright like the sun,
soaring through the air as fast as a plane,
but silent like the night.
I stretch out my finger
and patiently look around.
A weightless beauty lands on my finger.
Wings painted black with exquisite aqua droplets overlapping.
The blue’s so intense, my eyes adjust,
like getting a glimpse of the ocean, for the very first time.
The butterfly flutters away,
bringing me out of my mesmerized state.
As I walk out the door, ready to leave, I feel each unique, gentle, beauty flutter within me.
