Adoption Day MAG
Deliberating
Deciding
The presiding judge
Has my foster brother’s future dangling
In hAdoption Day
Deliberating
Deciding
The presiding judge
Has my foster brother’s future dangling
In her time-worn hands
I disguise my hope
I conceal my thrill
Because this opportunity could be surreal
A cavernous crevice creeping in my heart
A hollow dent to compensate
I gaze at his memorizing baby blue eyes
And in my heart I know he is mine
Ratification is all I need
Because we are linked
Not by blood
Not by DNA
But by the love
That we share every single day
Approval is what I need to survive
Approval is what I have rolling around
in my mind
Approval is the blessing I hope to receive
Approval is what will create a family
Approval is what the judge delivered me
A big sister again I get to be
And I can’t wait for
New memories to arise
As we say our hellos
Instead of good-byes
