Fermi Paradox
The vast oceans of stars don't care
if you feel insignificantly small,
there are so many planets up there,
is there no life out of them all?
I come from an ancient bloodline
called "human," we've been
looking at the sky for a sign
that our lonely planet has a twin.
After lifetimes of stargazing
and an improved telescope,
our tired eyes are still raising
to a sky drained of hope.
Why haven't they found us yet?
Surely at the corners of existence,
something has the technology.
to travel across space's distance.
But by the time aliens blue palms
could grasp a big enough spaceship
they'd already have bombs
and life would fall from their grip.
our inventive ideas fill to the brim,
condemning us to turn to stone,
self-destruction and life are synonyms,
I guess we really are alone.
