She’s having a stare down with her parents at the dinner table.
They swear she’s in trouble. Attitude as they mock her.
Everyone around her can see that clearly she doesn’t care
She should give up the lashing out for not being understood
Because it won’t make her feelings so away

And she’s a little bit damaged
Scraped knees and a few bruises
But no she’s not broken
Oh no! She’s far from that
She’s like a bird up in a cage
She’s feeling tricked and trapped
Just needs to break free
Break free and fly away

She’s having a fight with her boyfriend at the party
He swears she’s in trouble
As he mocks the Red Solo cup in her hands
Everyone around her can she’s had a few too many yet again
She should give up the cop out
Because it won’t make her feelings go away

And she’s a little bit damaged
Scraped knees and a few bruises
But she’s not broken
Oh no! She’s far from that
She’s like a bird in a cage
She’s feeling tricked and trapped
Just needs to break free
Break free and fly away

She’s having a stare down with her reflection in the mirror
It swears she’s in trouble
As is mocks the smile she wears
Everyone around can see the pressure’s getting to her
She should just give up false smiles
Because they won’t make her feelings go away

And she’s a little bit damaged
Scraped knees and a few bruises
But she’s not broken
Oh no! She’s far from that
She’s like a bird up in a cage
She used to let the world make her feel
So tricked and trapped
Just needed to break free
To learn how strong she really is
Just needed to break free
Break free and fly away

I was inspired by a lot of other songs as well as my personal life, to write this. I wrote this a couple years back, so it isnt the absolute best that i could do.
