The Color of the Ocean
Gaze across the boundless surface,
I am ocean blue—
churning waves chiseling the land in all directions.
I reflect the sky and universe above,
yet still I seem bland and empty.
Dive beneath the waves,
I am a rainbow of coral hues—
calming currents warmly welcome you in.
The bizarre animals work in an alien world,
yet the strange world is vaguely familiar.
Descend into the depths,
I am twilight blue, then completely black—
boiling rage will bubble to the surface.
Don’t enter, the pressure will crush you and me, and up is shrouded from view
yet the fanged creatures lurking will glimmer a faint blue glow of hope.
