Society has taught me to hide my IMPERFECTIONS

To be ASHAMED of my TRUE SELF

I wake up each morning asking myself

“Why am I DIFFERENT?”

I ask myself

“Why am I NOT the PERFECT child my parents dreamed of?”

I get called a FREAK, a DISAPPOINTMENT

I get told that I’m “NOT WORTHY”

I did not CHOOSE to be like this

I did not CHOOSE to be different

I did not CHOOSE this lifestyle

But this is ME!

I was MEANT to be like this!

I am NOT a “freak” I am ME!

This is who I’m MEANT to be!*

But when I get up,

I get knocked right back down

When I am confident,

I lose it all

When I tell people I am PROUD to be me,

They ask me “WHY?”

They still call me a FREAK

They still tell me I’m “NOT WORTHY”

“Worthy of what?” I ask them

When you think about it,

We are ALL freaks

We ALL have our imperfections

We are ALL different

We are INDIVIDUALS!

We are UNIQUE!

We are US!

And NO ONE! can change that

This is ME*!

And that is YOU!

THIS IS WHO WE WERE MEANT TO BE!
