Memories of Christmas

Wrapped in damp, dark bark,
Pine shudders against the chill,
Snow and winter brings.
Ax cuts through the bark,
Pine's brought in against the chill,
Snow's shaken off boughs.
Set up center stage,
Lights on strings and ornaments,
Star caps the whole thing.
Carols fill the air,
Children cause stirs in the air,
Fling open their gifts.
Weeks later, pine's dragged,
Back into the chilly snow,
Should be miserable.
But memories still remain,
Etched inside the needles green,
Memories of Christmas.
