In and out like tides
The ideas wash ashore –
Genius or jetsam?


The author's comments:
"Jetsam" means cargo from a ship that was purposefully tossed overboard. Since it originally belonged to someone else, jetsam in the poem represents ideas borrowed from others (making them unoriginal) while genius represents truly original ideas.
