Stars
Wide awake, darkness around
No one, no thing in sight
The numbing, mumbling drone of sound
Breathing in and out through the night
Stare at the ceiling, no appeal
Emptiness that brings no joy
Writhing silently with no feel
Sensation oh so coy
My eyes shifting from side to side
I imagine, looking for light
Isolated and broken inside
Drained and weary from the fight
But the stars that always shine so bright
Away from this desolate land
The sole thought that brings me hope in the night
Imagining their warmth in the palm of my hand
