The Invincible
When I heard about the accident,
I dropped to my knees.
Tears began to flow.
He couldn’t die this young.
After the many days in the ICU,
weeks in the hospital,
and the months of physical therapy,
we would finally meet again.
When I did see him,
it was like meeting the invincible.
He could never be hurt again
since he lived through this.
The weeks turned to months.
Months turned to years of safety,
yet somehow, the day had come
that he would no longer be invincible.
