serenity from desperity

Belligerent voices around me
pounding, echoing
the re-verb concerns me
I feel so compelled to rebel
I’m gasping for air
I create serenity
from disparity

I know my limits
I know the world around me
as light sends smiles around the children
only I can be forgotten
and
My flesh seems far from me
my lungs, breathing somewhere else
my mind, winning someone else their fame
fame leads to fortune
but what from that
nothing
