&quot;Nothing is certain but death and taxes&quot;<br /> Benjamin Franklin

What happened here?
The dream was so close
So very near
Then it fell away
Ruined by hardship
That was faced every day
Where did it go
My little American dream
It was starting to show
Then I let it all go
And now I think...

Chorus:
I'll make it on my own
Do it all alone
Live my life my way
Sorry Mother and sorry world
But I'm my own girl
I'll try again and again to live
Live,my American dream

Verse 2:
I try so hard to live
My all is what I give
I imagine the husband
The kids
The white picket fence
But that isn't me!
Why can't I live my
My, American dream
Why does it have to be the same?
Chorus
I'm sorry
For living my life my way
Not your way or the highway
The highway
I'll just take the highway

What is the American dream? So many people come here knowing what they want, how they want to live their life. Or at least we think we do.
