Brown and orange, with faint whispers of green,
A streak of golden boasts a handsome gleam
The fiery red, angry and daring,
The gentle, blunt yellow, friendly and caring
The dark black freckles, unwanted but completing,
A mix between maroon and amber, colourfully cheating
The leaf flutters down, stays there for a while,
Until a little girl picks it up, admiring it with a smile.

The author's comments:
I love all seasons - nature is continually amazing me with its beautiful changes and its spontaneous bursts of surprise. I don't want to be cliched and say the best part is jumping in the piles and hearing the crunch. Instead, for me, the best part is when you find a drooping leaf on a tree and upon closer inspection, you find it's not red, as you initially thought, it's all different colours as if the tree just couldn't choose.
