What is the sound of one heart shattering?
Is it of bats that are battering
Or of knocks on a cold and frozen door
That is tat-tat-tattering?
The sound is like a slamming door. Or is it of a lion's roar?
The sound is of breaking hearts
That have fallen upon the floor.
The place in which the breaking starts
Is always in the coldest parts.
Love always wants a pittance
And former lover's rage upstarts.
The part that has the most flagrance
Is the one with the coldest absence.
The sound of one heart shattering
Is the sound of cold silence.
