We are Dancers
Race up the stairs, no, can’t be late.
Another dance class is about to begin.
First bar, then warm ups, stretches, our fate
And onto the floor to dance once again.
Sore feet, blisters, each muscle is aching.
Practice each step over and over once more.
Sweating, ripped tights, shoelaces breaking.
Feet moving in unison across the floor.
Here is where we are learning to fly
As we leap, we soar, we jump, and we twirl.
Will this be the time we’ll touch the sky?
We are dancers and this is our world.
The music pulses through us like the beat of a heart.
We are dancers and this is our art.
