So close, just past the next hill
And yet I wait to see you still
Whenever I visit, you aren't around
I long to hear your voice, that simple sound
If I wait here long enough at our tree
Will you still come for me?
Or has there been enough time
That you dont want to sit with me and rhyme
Have you at last let me go
But didn't tell me so the pain would be slow
You were wrong, it would hurt even worse
Please don't leave me alone again with my curse
But there, I see you now, no need to worry
Such time has passed, we have each turned our adventures into a story
Each day could fill a chapter in our books
I blush when I see you giving me those looks
You alone know what I mean
When I speak of things and places unseen
You don't criticize
You don't sympathize
Now I can tell you the truth
That you pulled my heart out by its roots
But I dont want it back
Your love is the only thing I lack
