He once was a best friend who I told all
Yet now he is but simply a tally
What’s one more face to tack up to my wall
My wish is to be at the finale
But no applause here, for the bows aren’t sweet
As the two starring roles are no longer
With him as my co it was once replete
But without him I am hardly stronger
It depresses to think my one small smile
Could explode the Plexiglas illusion
A most innocent crush should be worthwhile
Yet here comes the regret and seclusion
So even though the applause is surreal
Tears at my lashes I’m forced to reveal
