the cave
I enter the dark tunnel warily
The graffiti stares down from wall to wall
The rushing water’s sound is friendly
But do your best not to slip up and fall
The damp air cools not only my body
My soul feels the ominous chill as well
Walls damp with fear are lonely and dirty
With secrets they’d rather not tell
This dark chamber reminds me of my soul
An interesting place that no one wants to go
I feel at home with this ugly dark hole
Light being our persecuter, our foe
But there is beauty if you imagine
Turn away from the light and just give in
