A Game Called Graduation
Black cap, black gown on graduation day.
Rosy red cheeks, half smile upon her face.
I’m baffled by the words her lips don’t say.
On the table her hands are interlaced.
Sitting before photographers, she stares
Into cameras that shine brightly on her.
Surrounded by the ones who never care.
Can’t wait until college is just a blur.
Following in footsteps of her few friends.
Trying to fit into the crowd she knows.
Heartbreaks and failures that she cannot mend.
‘Cause life is full of friends, but also foes.
Years end with a game called graduation.
Can’t wait for the next years of vacation.
