Locked

In a castle far away
lived a girl locked in a tower.
No one saw her night or day
But, she was always counting away the hours.
For a long time she had no friends
Her way out of the loneliness, she'd never find.
She waits for the day a person God would send,
But as she waits she makes one up in her mind.
From talking to dolls to talking to air
she loses her grip on reality.
And slowly she will no longer care
for a friend, herself, and least of all her sanity.
In that one far away place
happiness she finally tastes.

The author's comments:
This was inspired by the story of Rapunzel.
