Even in the Dark
Monsters enter, into my dreams each night.
Shadows trapping the souls of ghosts inside
My meager form away from light takes flight
And if still alive a part of me has died.
My lips are chapped but they still do speak
My lungs do burn but you’ll hear me sing
Even as I fall I’m not so meek
Promise whatever comes my voice will ring.
I’ve been through forests in the mountains high
This new place does have harder harsher lines
The work of living does make my heart sigh
And those memories of those times aren’t crimes.
Yet toil as I do to leave without mark,
My heart falls in love, even in the dark.
