The Halloween Sonnet
If you are a visitor, please come stay
At Melville's Haunted House that's really real
The termites around here bring wood decay,
The pigs outside now eat their final meal.
Witches will look over you, their laughs cruel
As the ghosts and the ghouls pass on through you
The steel frames of soldiers trapped in a duel
Stand upon white skulls; cold, shining and new.
In the graveyard outside, things awaken
Bones together, they plot to take over
Their eyes are blank, their memories taken
When you're in bed, their bodies will hover.
Come to Melville's Haunted House this weekend
Where everything real is only pretend.
