You squeak and meow at all hours of the night
You do not care if it is the middle of the day
It does not matter what I do or say
You will whine until the dawn’s morning light
You wail as I sleep, waking me often with a fright
Hush little furry one, or please go away
Just leave, get out of my sight
If you will behave and sleep, I will allow you to stay

I am sorry little kitten, I must admit you are quite cute
As you lie on my bed asleep and snoring
As though someone had clicked a button that said “mute”
I wonder, are your dreams like you, or are they boring?
As your noses whistles like a damp little flute
I sit there, in the dim light, adoring.
