The Jewel of Night
December 11, 2015
The flowers above dot the black with white.
They bloom next to the jewel in the dark box.
Her perfect complexion burning so bright.
In time with the long hands of running clocks.
The owl and wolf compete for her great love,
But no suitor can claim the purest heart.
She lights the way for others from above.
Appreciated but falling apart.
Her silent light goes out 'til all is black.
At rest until the fearless creatures shake.
Awakened and slowly her light comes back.
Illuminating off of the dark lake.
This cycle will repeat for years to come
'Til her heart beats to a different drum.
