The Shooter
The point guard crosses half court and he looks at his brothers;
Players, tall and short, ready to compete.
As he begins to move and set his feet,
The guard finds a shooter who is definitely uncovered.
The shooter receives the pass, getting a sight.
No defender nearby, he seeks to shoot.
The crowd’s getting anxious, some giving a hoot.
He shoots the ball with all of his might.
The defense looks to get the rebound.
As the shooter holds his form, with the ball in midair,
His teammates show hope and some even show prayer.
If the shooter misses, it’s the end of the round.
The ball goes swish and the team gets victory.
The opponent in defeat and even in shock,
Because one shooter just beat the clock.
This game will go down in history.
Sometimes you’ll win, sometimes you’ll lose,
But the shooter’s skill is something you must diffuse.
