Only until this sunset has ended,
Only until this sunset has ended,
Drowned beneath the waves, leaving the sky dark,
Sinking from the clouds, and leaving a clear mark,
In its place, darkness is suspended,
The night has come, the sun’s reign has ended,
Waves slap against the cliffs, winds howl and bark,
The last rays of light blur, no longer stark,
The unforgiving night, so blunt, it offended.
On the cliff stands a girl, trembling and alone,
Her lips blue and skin pale from the wind’s bite,
She looks out into the darkness and inhales the unknown,
The waves calm and she becomes without fright,
She closes her eyes and with a final moan,
Steps into the dark, no longer fearing the night.
