Timeless
Her aged hands lay limp against the blue sheet
the remains of wispy gray strands contrast
those cracked red lips forming a gentle pleat
and her wrinkled complexion maps her past
When the yellow curtains are drawn back, she
looks youthful, highlighting her beauty
permed black curls for admirers to see;
her ivory tone, cheekbones, lips colored ruby
Those lips could steal away any man’s kiss but
he is dead now, gone by decades, oh grim
she yearns for his embrace, his warm touch, what
seems like the end is her new life with him
Bound by time, hostage to the ticking clock
Now, she is timeless and chainless ? unlocked
