The Sorcerer's Apprentice is an action-packed movie revolving around an average guy, who soon discovers that he has the ability to become one of the most powerful sorcerers of all time. It all starts when Dave Stutler is in fourth grade and walks into a mysterious store, after a note written by a girl he likes flies into there by coincidence. Dave soon enters the odd-looking store and soon meets the owner, who's a mysterious man that goes by Balthazar and claims to be a sorcerer. When Balthazar tries to put on a magical ring onto Dave's hand that was given to him by another sorcerer, Merlin, the ring soon becomes alive and chooses Dave as the owner, meaning that Dave is the sorcerer who's task will be to one day help save the world from an evil sorceress who has plans to raise an army of the dead and take over the world. However, things don't go exactly as planned, since Dave accidentally releases an evil sorcerer into the world as well, while Balthazar leaves him alone to go grab a book of spells. Because of this, Balthazar captures the other sorcerer and puts the both of them inside of a magical coffin that confines them for ten years. Because both of them disappear, Dave just assumes that he has weird hallucinations, because no one believes him, and he is forced to receive therapy and treatment. However, ten years later, once both Balthazar and Horvath, the other sorcerer, are released back into the world, Dave soon learns that the incident that had occurred before was not his imagination and that the world of sorcery is very real. Although Dave is reluctant at first, he soon learns all of the wonders of sorcery as he becomes an apprentice to Balthazar and tries to stop Horvath from freeing Morgana, an ancient evil sorceress, save New York City from doom, and finally fall in love with the girl from fourth grade who wrote him the note. 
 The Sorcerer's Apprentice proves to be a deliriously fun roller coaster ride that is sure to please. The beginning of the movie brilliantly starts the film, and audiences are immediately introduced to the relatable, fan-favorite Dave as well as the exciting magical world of sorcery. The middle of the movie does a marvelous job of progressing things along, and there is an insane amount of character development in this portion of the movie. The enticing ending of the movie proves to be exhilarating, adventurous and does succeed in executing everything the rest of the movie was trying to build up. The actual conclusion of the movie is a great one. Overall, the movie tries to be a modern version of the classic Disney tale and does a superb job at just that.

 The Sorcerer's Apprentice manages to be such an entertaining movie, because the tone of the movie is balanced throughout. Even though there's danger and scary concepts presented, the movie is able to counter those elements with light-hearted jokes that are genuinely hilarious and generally more high-spirited moments and scenes. Because of this, the movie is able to become substantially more entertaining and is never depressing at any single point or time. 

 The Sorcerer's Apprentice greatly benefits from having amazingly vivid visual effects. These visuals help in aiding the movie present all of the magical aspects of the movie and help to make all of the sorcery in the movie come to life and look like it could actually happen. The superb special effects are called on early and often and are a major component of why the movie is able to become such a triumphant hit with viewers. 

 The Sorcerer's Apprentice also has a talented cast that seems to be able to have fun with their roles. Nicolas Cage does a tremendous job of playing Balthazar, and this is definitely one of his better performances out of his recent movies. Jay Baruchel does a spectacular job of playing Dave, and he is genuinely able to transform into a character who seems to be wary of sorcery. Because of this, Dave is used as a literary device for audiences to be presented to the movie's concepts, like the world of sorcery, through him, and because Jay does such a fantastic job, this is able to be accomplished in a very well done manner. Jay and Nicolas Cage also combine together on screen to create an awesome acting duo that is nothing short of a delight to watch. 

 Even though The Sorcerer's Apprentice is beloved by many, critics strangely didn't seem to be that thrilled with the movie. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a poor 41%, and IMDb gave the movie a mediocre 6.1/10, which really isn't that great of a mark. However, an absolutely outstanding 94% of Google users liked the movie, helping to demonstrate that regardless of what critics think, viewers are still able to find a great deal of satisfaction and entertainment with the film. 

 The Sorcerer's Apprentice proves to be a movie that is definitely a must see and is sure to please, because it is an incredibly magical movie that combines mythology, sorcery, comedy, adventure, and so much more to create a coherent tale that won't disappoint.
