RoboCop
RoboCop proves to be an epic adventure that will be sure to please audiences with its dysfunctional future that combines together science fiction and fantasy to create a truly memorable roller coaster. The movie takes place in a futuristic Detroit that is on the brink of apocalypse, and it is here where evil corporations rule, as well as the criminal masterminds behind them. One of these companies, Omni Consumer Products, ends up winning a contract from the city's government to allow them to make some modifications to the police force, which gives them plenty of power. Their goal is to create a cyborg robot that has the mind of a programmed human but also the body of a giant machine to allow the cyborg to take down crime as efficiently as possible. The company finally gets their chance when an innocent and good cop in Alex Murphy is killed. He was a loving husband and father that wanted to please his family, but ultimately came into a confrontation with Boddicker, one of the largest crime lords in all of Detroit, that ends up costing Murphy his life. Upon his death, the company takes his dead body and due what they wish to his body, stripping him of all his limbs but his face. Before long, Murphy's body is reshaped into the legendary RoboCop, a massive robot that has incomparable aim, the ability to sense where criminals are, and might just prove to be the greatest cop the city of Detroit has ever come to know. However, as RoboCop gains more experience and becomes a being that can think for itself, RoboCop begins to discover some nasty truths.
RoboCop manages to transform into an exhilarating adventure that combines the best of the science fiction and fantasy genres to form a wild tale. There's plenty of awesome action in this one, and all of the fighting in the movie makes the stakes that much higher for both villains and RoboCop himself. There's always the constant threat of legitimate death, and while the film might include too much glorious violence for some, others might appreciate how it grounds the movie in a bit of reality, where the main characters can die and fights don't always end pretty.
RoboCop benefits from a smart concept that utilizes the best of the police force and robots to combine together and make a unique hybrid. RoboCop is neither completely a robot or a man, hence why he's a cyborg, but this unusual combination allows his service as a police force agent to become all the more memorable. Additionally, the movie benefits from some wicked special effects that bring the movie to life. The spectacular special effects ensure that all of the movie's technology look realistic and seem as if they could be created in real life. Without the visuals of the movie, it would've been difficult for the movie's main character in RoboCop to become that substantial, but luckily, this simply isn't a problem.
RoboCop has just about it all, including a wildly engaging story, a thorough and cohesive plot, and action galore. There truly is a reason why the movie received an impressive 89% from Rotten Tomatoes and why 92% of Google users liked the movie. The movie is considered a classic by many, and for good reason. Its bewildering concepts and extravagant ideas help to create a superb science fiction tale that will be sure to resonate with audiences. This is definitely a must-see.
