Rainy Day
1.
The day was wet and rainy. A lone streetlight flooded the dreary lane with a quiet, eerie glow. Naked trees stood vulnerable to the dark, pregnant clouds. An old, rugged nomad trudged along the curb, pushing a rusted shopping cart. He stopped, stooping to pick up a red Cola can. The pouring rain ran off his worn, grey hat as he cradled the treasure in his hands. A smile slowly grew across his ancient face. He gently placed the can in the Price Chopper cart. Then he began to cry. Human tears met heavenly tears in a sweet embrace; for joyous memories can be found even on a rainy day.
