"Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together."

Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another,
"What! You too? I thought I was the only one."
- C. S. Lewis

His mind was lost in a world where I could not follow. I wished he could take me to that magical place he drifted off to when he was sad. I wanted to truly understand what he saw when he closed his eyes. I wanted to escape my ugly reality and join him in that place of magic. I wanted to be in a deep sleep with him, not awake and aware of the drastic situation that was happening.

I didn't want to become the government's weapon.

"Analyn. It's time."

My cold gaze fell on the towering, suit wearing woman with a cold smile and dead smile on her lips. My hand slipped from the limp grasp of the pale faced boy and I straightened up, refusing to let the woman see the despair and sadness in my eyes.

One day, Marco, I will join you in your world of eternal slumber.

My chin raised defiantly as I held the woman's cold stare, my own grey eyes frosted over. "It's time," I repeated mechanically as my hand slowly dragged to the gun hanging loosely over my shoulder. "Yes. It has come."

The lady nodded to me silently, but I was too lost in thought to care. How it happened, how all of this happened. It was all the government's fault I did not have to luxury to be frozen in time, to be stuck in an alternate world created by the scientists for the humans to live life while I lived a life of horror.

How it happened... God, it had been so long since I thought about it. I used to be normal, like any other girl. Until Guns and Roses happened to me.

Heiko and I were part of the government's top secret experiment- Operation Guns and Roses. The name came from the fact that the government was trying to bond human girls- the Roses- to heavy artillery-the Guns- to form an almost psychic bond with one another.

Strange, I know. Now you have a clue where all your tax money goes and funds; Surprise, you help contribute to the constant torture of girls.

Wanna know something else? The government failed. All those experiments died before they could fully create a psychic bond with the weapon of choice. Their mind could not handle the strain of creating a bond with a scrap of machinery.

Until they found me, that is. A girl with a will power strong enough to handle the strain of being bonded with a weapon.

I am Analyn, the soul survivor of Operation Guns and Roses, and the only one to create a bond with a weapon, a slick black machine gun I like to call Heiko.

Not now. Why do you have to be stubborn now?

Heiko burned in my grasps and I glared at the black gun with irritation.

Stop being so dam.n irritating, Heiko. Now is not the time to play. Not when there's a league of zombies to obliterate and wipe off the face of Earth.

With a coc.k of my gun, I nodded to the prim woman, who in response mouthed a "Good Luck". Slowly, the metal blinds that shielded me from the outside world were raised, and grotesque faces of ripped flesh and rot were revealed to me. Monstrous groans fell from their disfigured lips and their bloody stubs scrapped against the glass window, trying to break into the warehouse. Gruesome sights filled my sights, but I did not blanch. This was my destiny. This is what I was made to do; to destroy.

Their hungry gazes fell on my lone form and they moaned and grunted loudly, their clawing becoming frantic on the glass. They looked like animals now, beasts that could only think of gorging themselves. I knew what they wanted. Too bad they were going to be chewing on my bullets instead of chewing on me.

My eyes shined with hard resolute as I pointed Heiko at the glass. I was ready for this. This shot was for Marco, who was stuck in that dream world without me. This was for my fallen family, who had become unfortunate victims of the bloodthirsty monsters in the window.

This was for ME, the me I used to be before I became... This weapon of destruction.

Because the truth is, it doesn't matter who or what I used to be. Only what I've become matter.

Burn in Hell, zombies.

A single bullet flew through glass, shattering the peace.

(sounded a lot better before it was translated... oh well)

Interesting concept. I like how you explain the background and you're ambiguous at the same time.
