&quot;Thou! thy truest type of grief is the gently falling leaf.&quot;<br /> -Edgar Allan Poe

Why do we fear the dark? When the night air is warm and still, and clouds shroud the sky and choke off all light, and the only sound is that of our own fragile and mortal heart, why do we shiver in fearful anticipation as the wind tickles down our spine? In the farthest reaches of our subconscious minds, in that primal part that technology and civilization have caused to become dormant, we know Him.
He is in every nightmare, every shudder, every moonlit walk and midnight kiss. He is in the best of us and the worst of us, in every child, man, woman, and in every old lady hunched over her walker and yearning for the days when she, too, could make men stop and stare.
At night I have seen him in moonbeams and he says, “I am life and death, God and Devil; I make you kill and I make you love; I am greed and charity; I am everything good and everything bad; We are One.”

Wow, this is so good.  I love the last sentence.
