Thank You, Veteran
In class, we watched the Honor Flight movie that was about previous Wisconsin veterans and their journey to Washington D.C. I was moved by this movie because I never truly understood how much visiting the memorials dedicated to their honorable service meant to a veteran and it am thankful that it finally shed light upon me.
My name is Sam. I am a senior in high school. With my 18th birthday coming in May, I will have to fill out a draft card such as you did. I cannot even start to imagine having to be drafted, dropping everything, your future goals/plans and current life, to go to war and fight for our liberty. But I do know someone who has experienced the draft. My grandfather was drafted for the Korean War. He was always one to tell stories about his experience during his term. As he passed in 2014, his patriotic traditions lingered with our family.
As you return home from your long awaited trip, I hope you finally get the welcome back you deserve.
Sincerely,
Sam
