Dangerous Diving

The summer is an amazing time of year. The sun shining on your face, the brisk sea ready to cool you down after a long day of heat. I love the summer. During the summer we always go to a place in Albania called Palasa. It is in the Albanian riviera, and it is an amazing place. One summer day, me and my friend Arbi and our families went on a boat. Our families went to a beach bar close to where we anchored, and me and Arbi stayed on the boat. The only other person on the boat was the captain of the boat.
Me and Arbi changed into our swimwear and went to the front of the boat where we could jump off into the sea. We went to the edge of the front and crossed our arms to go as deep as possible.
“3, 2, 1, jump!,” we both shouted at the same time, and we jumped. I was in the air for about a second then directly with the speed of light in the water. Even when I was in the water I was still going down. I went very deep where the ocean was almost navy blue. Nothing was visible down there and it was very spooky. I turned my head and saw Arbi floating above me. Yes! I had won the challenge.
You might be confused about what challenge I am talking about. Well, it was not talked about but we both knew that if we both crossed our arms to go very deep, the one who went deeper would be the winner. It was a challenge that was not spoken of, but it was mutually agreed upon. As I saw Arbi above me, I gestured that I won and laughed.
“Ha, I won,” I said underwater. I later realized that he could not understand what I said underwater. We both slowly started to float up. I looked down again to see the dark abyss. It was like a void. Nothing could be seen for kilometers.
     “Wow” I said in amazement.
BANG! I hit my hand on something. It was something solid so it kind of hurt. I looked up to see what it was, and I saw a slab of wood painted glossy gray. What was this? It was the boat. I started panicking trying to find the shortest way out. But if you are underwater and are in a dangerous situation, you shouldn’t panic because the more you get stressed out, the more oxygen you waste. I started thinking about my death. I started thinking about my lungs filling up with water and the oxygen going out. I started thinking about the engines that could turn on at any moment and turn me into a minced human. I started thinking about the creatures that could be in that deep, dark sea. Soon, every single way I could die in this situation was realized in my head. I tried to get myself together and tried to find a way out. I turned to the left; that end of the boat was too far away for me to escape. I turned to the right, that was also too far away to escape.
“Where should I go? Where should I go?” I say in my mind.
I looked towards the back of the boat but the engines were there so I couldn’t escape from there. Then I realized that I was very close to the front of the boat. Using saved up oxygen I started swimming towards the front of the boat, but my hand was hurting a lot because I hit it on the boat. As my oxygen was running low on my lungs, the panic level was rising. I tried to swim with my legs, but I didn’t know if I could reach the front fast enough. Then I saw a hand.
It was Arbi. He must have realized that I was missing and dived to find me. I reached out my hand and he pulled me out. On the water surface I tried to catch my breath again. After I finally calmed down, I got on the boat, and we waited for our families to come back. We had a good laugh and I learned that If I want to do something dangerous again, someone should always be around.
