My Bedroom
My eyes slowly peel open as the sun creeps through the sheer, white curtains that drape from the three windows. Chirp! Chirp! Right outside the windows birds with hues of red and blue remind me it is now morning and the day must begin.
I’m met with a vision of white floors, white bedding, and sprinkles of pink colliding within the walls of my quaint bedroom. The muted colors accompany the ballerina pink well. A light pink blanket dangles from the foot of the bed and pillows of the same flushed color rest beneath my head. Hanging in the center of the room is a light fixture. Three bulbs of miniature lights work together, shining like a firework, successfully illuminating the room from its once dark, peaceful state.
Across from the bed where I lay, a futon sits. Beige, suede fabric tightly wraps the corners leaving an organized look to the viewer. But that organized look is all a show. By night, that futon hosts sleepovers with friends where we stay up giggling and eating snacks and by day it becomes a top notch study spot where I review flashcards or complete presentations.
On a lazy day, the hours slip from my fingers. Whether I spend my day making string bracelets or reading a book, it is still time well spent. By sunfall, beautiful sunsets can be seen from the window that faces the front of the house. Bright oranges, pinks and purples swirl in the sky, falling beneath the apple orchard that resides in the property across the street. Late spring or early summer provide my favorite sunsets. The many apple trees bloom a breathtaking apple blossom, a flower that closely resembles a small rose. I sit in my bedroom watching the colors slowly fade to darkness. Now I lay, bundled in my plush white comforter with a plethora of pillows to tag along, making for the best sleep imaginable. I close my eyes and await the bright sun that will fill my beautiful room in the morning.
