Something I Couldn’t Live Without
It's a Friday after practice and my friend says that he's going to this shoe convention today. I ask him “How does that work.” He responds “You buy a shoe for a lower price and sell it for a higher.” He tells me all about shoe reselling and I ask him tons of questions about how it works and how to get started.
So after I had all this knowledge I thought it would be a great idea to start reselling never thinking it would turn into a bigger thing. Then December 30th comes by, right before the new year, and a shoe drops on the snkrs app. I enter the draw and wait around for 10 minutes to pass.
After the time runs out I look back and my phone and it says “Got’Em”. I got excited and told my parents about what happened. I could not believe that I just got this pair of shoes.
Next week shoes up and another shoe drops. I enter the draw and yet again I get the “Got’Em” screen. After that, I thought this was going to turn out well.
Weeks go by as I'm buying multiple pairs of shoes a week and selling them through online platforms for more. I get to a point where I maybe have around 50 pairs of sneakers and have to find a way to sell all of these.
A great opportunity shows up called Got Sole, a sneaker convention. I asked my friends if they wanted to go and said “Yes.” So I get all my shoes ready and drive down to Chicago for a sneaker convention. This was the first time I’ve ever been to a sneaker convention.
I walk into the convention and compared to other people I have like no shoes. I was able to sell a ton of my shoes and was an overall good experience.
Shoe reselling has taught me a lot of things and without this. I learned how to run a proper business and how to come back from your losses. I learned what hard work and consistency is. Without shoes, I would not have learned as much as I did.
That is why the one thing I would save is my shoe collection. They have been very important to me and I could not live without them.
