I cut my palm
And sunlight spills
For I am living
And nature claims me
Tears burn red hot
Holy water steaming as it touches my sinner’s skin
For I am only human
I will bind my chest but bite my tounge
I will play pretend
For I am my mother’s son,
But she only has a daughter.
I will choke on the liquids that spill from me
And when I’m dry I’ll turn to dust
Another thing that needs to be cleaned
For I am dirty, in my soul I know it.
