'Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.'
-Mark Twain

Times are a-changin along with the people, lifestyles, occupations, cultures and everything else that makes up our world. Although we can never strictly predict the future and where we are headed, there certainly have been many attempts at it. So what does the future have in store for us anyways? Flying cars, levitation, and out-of-this-world-electronics? Quite possibly. Maybe we'll even become a 'brave new world' acquiring complete equilibrium. That'd be boring. But before you get all ecstatic about purchasing an ipod that not only provides phone, internet, and transportation services but will make you a sandwich as well, really take the future into consideration.

There are going to be intense changes. Our population will increase at an unmanageable rate. We will build superior cities that will grow immensely bigger and receive so much power. Our world will soon give in to pollution as rises to an uncontrollable level. Or maybe we can try and invent ways to save areas from this disorder and not cut through our rainforests? It has been predicted that cars will be programmed to auto drive using a combination of radar and a GPS unit to operate. You will get in, tell your car where to go, and it will drive you there. You won't even have to lift a finger. How convenient.
At any rate we need to start doing things now to affect our future in a good way. We are the only ones who can change it, and we have the capability to do it.

A lot of people may ask themselves, is there even anything significant left to invent? or is any new invention just going to be improvements to existing ones? Like the latest 124th version of the ipod nano, or Windows Vista 2010, no thanks. Will we invent things to save this planet? Or just create ridiculous amounts of technology that will allow us to go to school without even getting out of bed? I'm going to guess the latter. But we don't need those things first. What we need are inventions to save lives, save cultures, save the earth.

Medical cures, energy sources, ecological friendly products, improved planetary travel, social and cultural development, more reliable forms of communication that won't give any DROPPED CALLS. These are essential things that must be created over time. These are the vital things. Hopefully these crucial things will be invented over time before sandwich making ipods. Necessity is the mother of invention, so the saying goes.

This world is much, much smaller than you make it out to be. We feed through a mass of trivial moments shared and then forgotten, leaving no sign of its passing for the rest of the lives that collide with ours. This world we somehow survive in revolves around the tiny electric impulses roaring through our heads, sending gentle beats to our chest. It's so little. So fragile. Yet, the future of the world depends on these impulses. It depends on our actions. The world is in our hands now. So what are you going to do?

Very detailed article!

I like your thought process and just the idea of our world being like this. The ending is profound and really gets me thinking about what I should do to make the world last.

Yes, this is pretty interesting what would happened with us in future but if really nobody knows what other future will look like who knows maybe alliance will cam or how you told maybe culture will change. If really every writer just want to make us shyer that something will happened. For me this text is really interesting .I was surprised with this writing because everybody just writing about an electronic things that will be in future but this is not interesting. So, I am really amazed with your writing. Good job! I have a question about people, I think that population will ruin other world. Do you think like that and how do you think maybe we will need to take some rules to stop the population grow more and more?)))))

I hope our planet will not change so quickly. I need Internet and other things what people invited not long time ago, so I hope that they will invite something more interesting and powerful. Maybe in 2012 we will have robots like our friends, or we will have school on-line, our flats will automatically opened and closed;)

Good luck everyone!

I agree, most people will care more about making money in the future, but hopefully there still will be people out there who do care about the world and making the best out of it. This is what I was trying to get across to people; we must take steps now while we still have some advantages.

jadenex246, do you realy think, people will care about our planet in the future?

I mean, the only thing that people will care about, is making money, and you will not stop them with the words like:"our planet is exhausted" or revolutions.

P.S I like the idea with I-pods,that are making sandwiches))

I think the question about envirement and the polution has been discussed a little to much lately. Also I think that no matter how much you talk about this... it won't change. So instead of making articles with walls of text. You could just go ahead grab a poster and strike with some hippies against "corporations".

I think that in this article an author affected a very important theme. Certainly it is very important to think of some new technologies that can mare our life better, but we must not forget about that technologies that we have now and that we need to use them too.

I think this is very smart passage about our time. People must save their nature and stop destroying the world.

I think it is very important thing that we have to find new things to do our planet better. People think calm their interests, but we have to know that it will be big detriment our planet. We have ti invent new inventions. And I think that is really good, true article.

This article is really today’s state show. I got today’s environment problem. People are make lots of good things. That things mess the earth. If made plastic, it use petroleum(oil). Petroleum is need for car also, but car is use petroleum and let out carbon dioxide, but people made good cars. This time some people use electromobile( electronic car). I think more future, people more think about environment, and must use more make ecology things.

I think that every thing that will invate in future can hurt us. For example when car is driving by a computer and you accidently pour out any drin on it, then computer brokes that means every thing have failing that can cause danger.

I understand the writer and I think he says true. technology its our life. They thing about computers games . But the more important for us, now, it was to think about our planet and save it because we destroy it
