All I could remember was the sound of the rain as I was looking for you.

The last time I saw you we were in a screaming match and you walked out

And the next thing I know I’m walking around aimlessly in the middle of nowhere looking for you.

I walk.

And walk

And walk.

Until I find you…

And honestly?

I wish I hadn’t.

At first, I didn’t even know you were there.

I tripped over you

and slipped face-first into the mud.

I looked back and there you were.

Lying cold.

Still

And not breathing….

Everything went silent

And the only sound was the sound of my screaming.

I held your cold figure and I just…

Screamed.

I didn’t call anyone

I didn’t carry you to safety

In all my screaming?

I didnt even cry.

Just two people.

One dead

And the other traumatized.

Is this poem from personal experience? I found my Great-Grandmother dead when I went to her house after school, and all I could do was sit there and cry while I waited for my mother to show up. I didn't have the presence of mind to call anyone, (since I was only 6), and so I just sat there with her body.
