The Feeling Of Summer

On a July night,
I lay on a fleece blanket in the backyard
listening to the frogs croak and the crickets sing,
looking up at the sky and naming the stars...
This is the feeling of summer
I get the chills each time the wind whips against my arms,
wishing incredible dreams i know won't come true
licking a cherry popsicle to satisfy my taste buds,
hearing the constant bark of the neighbor's dog...
This is the feeling of summer
