&quot;For each of us there comes a time when we must be more than what we are&quot;<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Lloyd Alexander

Dust bunnies, nose hair,
Creepy-crawlies in your underwear,
Colds, coughs, garden gnomes-
What do you expect of a non-poetic poem?

Fleas, ticks, head lice,
Droppings from some hidden mice,
Being locked inside a dome-
What do you expect of a non-poetic poem?

Itchy, scratchy, burning rash,
Taking out the dripping trash,
Year-old milk that’s starting to foam-
What do you expect of a non-poetic poem?

A pushpin stuck in your foot,
That’s not where a pin is meant to be put,
Termites infesting in your home-
What do you expect of a non-poetic poem?

Mosquito bites all over your rump,
Blood gushing from a bump,
Getting knocked out by a friend-
That’s how my non-poetic poem ends.
