"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding." -Khalil Gibran

He talks unfazed
His false heroism gets praised
He smiles but would bite
He'd gladly pick a fight
He was once my best friend
But his betrayals he wouldn't amend
A friend turned traitor
A prideful hater
I would sit alone and cry
All because it was started from a lie
He spread things around
So bad I did sound
My only friend in school dislikes me
She won't let me explain
Because she said she didn't want to hear me complain
Mad she will remain
Looking back I shouldn't smile
Because she won't catch onto him for a while
He will lie to her and she would believe
Because she will be what I once was. Naive.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem after my former friend betrayed me by spreading rumors around in school. I made a great effort to resolve our conflicts but all attempts failed. I lost a friend because of the rumors and it strained my friendship with my other best friend. I wrote this to shed light on what happened, and to express how powerful and serious a rumor can get.

rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, & accepted by idiots.

I know exactly what this feels like, its a horrible feeling that makes your heart just drop, and everything just seemed like slow motion. I used to have several friends who spread so many rumors and my other friends beleived they were true so they ditched me.
