The Things You Do With Her
Seeing you and her, together is like a punch in the gut.
I left my heart open when I should have kept it shut.
Seeing the happiness that you share, is like a kick in the teeth.
I'm wound tightly with anger that somehow, I can't release.
Watching her be your only is a shot to the chest;
Her, being the only one who sees you at your best.
Watching you become ever-closer stabs like a knife.
And yet, before you know it she will want me out of your life.
Hearing about the past you've shared, fills me with rage;
In the story of your life I have only been a page.
Hearing you talk about her needs starts to bleed me dry.
I can't release the sadness I hold; I ache but cannot cry.
Knowing you share a bed with her, when mine is oh so cold,
Makes me regret the things you've seen and the secrets you've been told.
Knowing I'll never be the one and will never take her place,
Makes me want to leave, without a word and never show my face.
