The American Dream
I am tantalizing turkey tamales on Thanksgiving―
tortilla chip bags with generations of tireless hours as the first ingredient.
I am the blood of low class Latinos―
climbing up the rope of society, “ringing the bell of riches”.
I am 5’1”―
climbing up the counters to fan out fresh baked cookies.
I am humongous hoodies―
like a marshmallow melting in a mug of hot cocoa.
I am nights of peek-a-boo―
as if my hands are on and off switches for giggles.
I am 60 mph winds of worry―
through a storm battling towards expectations.
I am Hurricane Maria―
relentless, strong and a survivor… waiting for the next storm!
