They told us it was all acting
when we sat in theatre class,
to put aside everything when we’re onstage,
forget about the past,
between you and your,
opposite

But is it really acting if we mean everything we say,
If all of the lines in the script are true,
should it be called a play?
Maybe not to me and you

But I guess that the word acting,
Still rings true

Because I’m tired of acting
like I don’t care,
like we’re still just friends,
I’m tired of acting
like it doesn’t matter
if we’re together by the end

But they said
It really shouldn’t matter,
to you and your
onstage
opposite

When they first called us opposites,
I saw the look on your face,
They told you what it meant and
the room became a kind of awkward place

Said,
you and your opposite need to act like you’re in love
And that was that

But I guess that no one
thought to remember
that opposites really do
Attract
