Our Last Night Under The Stars
This is our last chance to whisper quiet
words that drip with cinnamon hearts and gumdrops.
This is the last night we will gaze at the
stars and together wonder what's behind them.
Our times of ruffled hair and pillow
fights at the end of moonlit bedrooms are over.
So kiss me goodbye, as the planets look on
with smiling faces and whisper sighs to each-other.
So let us hold hands and gaze at
the darkening sky, without a word.
For my darling, no words are needed, just the sight
of a million tiny suns peeking out from behind their covers is
enough to join us in silent harmony.
Let's dance away the last night in a
whirl, under the glowing orbs that remind me of eyeballs
of some celestial being, and you of shattering glass marbles.
This is the last time our hearts will beat as one, for
when you go, mine will no longer be.
So let's fall asleep under the slowly brightening sky with your
arm around my waist and my hair sprawling over your flawless nose
and smile, as our chests rise and fall in unison.
Let us spend our night under the stars, and tomorrow will never be reached.
