Chasing Streetlights
I could use an escape.
Like the summers spent
eternities ago,
chasing streetlights,
growing younger-
we were free then.
Hopeful, wishing on the few stars
we could see through the city haze.
Each day everlasting,
until September reintroduced our bitter old friend,
reality.
So much for an escape.
