I tried to write a poem
One that you could ooh and aah over
A personal poem
It would make you cry
Or maybe make you laugh
I tried to write a poem
That would make you think
That would inspire you
That would make you see the real me
I tried to write a poem
Until my hand cramped
Until my eyes got heavy and gave in
Until the next song on the radio went off
I wrote a poem because you told me to try
