dream as if you'll live forever
live as if you'll die tomorrow

Time slips by unnoticed
I’m only staring blindly into the distance
Don’t you see how this is breaking me apart?

I saw a waterfall when I was three
I still remember how leaning over it all was a majestic tree
Sometimes I wonder if it’s fallen by now – how strong could it be?

A striped shirt lies, so innocently, on the ground beside me -
Somehow it seems to be the only key -
So I pick it up, bury my face in it

I inhale the sweet scents
Which almost seem to be meant
To open the flood gates of memories

And finally, after all this time,
I surrender with a shaking sigh
And cry
